Morse Block Deli Set to Reopen Under New Owner

Barre, Vermont - Morse Block Deli was recently purchased by Stefano Coppola and is set to reopen in July, 2016 with added offerings to the existing menu. 

Located at 260 N. Main Street in downtown Barre, Vermont, Morse Block Deli has quickly developed as a local favorite since it opened in 2014. When founder and owner Dustin Smith put the business on the market earlier this year, local chef Stefano Coppola jumped at the chance to add his own local flavor to the business. 

"I was attracted to the sense of community that had developed around the delicatessen and craft beer store," said new owner, Coppola. "The previous owner got off to a great start fostering a friendly atmosphere and good food. I plan to continue to build on that, while adding some new and exciting features and flavors." 

Coppola plans to keep some of the current offerings while integrating new, house-made products such as bread, pickles, fresh pastas, and condiments. He even plans to add simple house-made cuts of meat, marinated dishes people can pick up and cook at home, and build on the already wide selection of craft beer offerings and growler taps. 

"My goal is to provide a one-stop shop where locals and visitors can enjoy wholesome, creative, and delicious food and beverages. High quality, affordable, and locally sourced products will be our focus," Coppola said. "Morse Block Deli will provide the community with a quick alternative to fast food establishments and reasonably priced small group events. Our products, staff, and atmosphere will continue to facilitate that." 

Coppola is no stranger to the food and beverage industry. With a Bachelors in Culinary Arts from New England Culinary Institute, over ten years in the industry, and experience working under top chefs such as Chef Barbara Lynch of Boston and Tom Bivins of Vermont, Coppola will certainly keep Barre, Vermont well fed.
